Aside from the fact that the Scarlet was over-the-top high energy, it opened the 2nd set just as the rain abated a bit. Listen closely at the beginning. Brent weaves in the opening melody of I Can See Clearly Now (the rain is gone). A true musician, Brent heard the similarity in the chord sequence, which matches perfectly, and threw in a little fun. This is probably the only time you'll hear Roberta Flack and the GD mentioned in the same sentence!

Decent quality AUD recording. Quite nice actually.
Set 1 highlights: Things are fairly standard until the excellent Hell in a Bucket>Deal.
Set 2 HIGHlights: LOTS of songs and big jams. Not the best Morning Dew ever, but perhaps the best of '83. Each year has it's own "best" Morning Dew, IMO. Jerry's vocals are on point!

and this is the 1st show there. Like 4/27/84, that's hard to understand. No rating I can't hear anything./

which CM maybe did all he could with to no avail, but I find this an OK but unremarkable listen. Hard to hear any peaks, as the sound is very flat.

How can you complain with a fantastic S>F, and one of the best Dews ever? Very hot show. Gotta love '83 Dead.

It's probably due to the lack (and subpar) recordings of this insane show, but I still challenge ANY deadhead to find a more powerful, raucous & vicious version of Scarlet>Fire. Yes, the Dew is beyond stellar, but you will never hear so many crescendos in S>F than on this glorious night. This is GD meets heavy metal. Put your headphones on (not stereo speakers) and you will easily see why. The band was in another universe this night and the 2nd set outlasted Healy's cassette recording which is why this gem has never received it's attention due. Thanks to Jim Wise and Jeff Silberman for capturing what the band couldn't.

As good as it may sound here, BEING there was the real treat. Drove up that morning from Long Island, doses at the ready. Pouring rain and The Boys made it a true wet dream. While the 1st set is no slouch, the second set was truly insane. From the first notes of Scarlet, me and the road trip crew were at 30,000 and ready for the onslaught. Maybe the most intense show I ever attended. The Dew...oh, The Dew...The Ballston Spa hotel we helped refurbish is a prominent memory...Just like Crazy Otto, Chaz and Dano...
P.S. How can there NOT be a board of this for Charlie Miller to work his magic on???

I love the begining of Scarlet and of Fire. If you remember how much it rained, then listen to the I can see clearly now the rain is gone from the organ. I love the way the boys were always so intune to the days events. Again it can be heard just before Fire. I know we all spoke it after and is nice to confirm it here.
